- I have signed up for green energy. This means all my electricity is generated from green sources. What this means is an equivalent amount of green energy is pumped into the grid for all that I use.
- We are attempting to buy food and good that are produced closer to home. I assume goods produced closer will have a better environmental footprint.
- Even though we are using green energy we are using low wattage lights
- We are trying to turn off as many appliances when not needed, especially things that are on stand-by. Did you know a mobile phone charger that is plugged in uses power even when it is not charging a phone? I heard some microwaves use more power over a year from displaying the clock than heating things up.
- We are trying to minimise car travel particularly short trips to things nearby. We both walk to the city when possible and walk my son to school.
- We are trying to reduce water usage wherever possible and reuse the kids bath water to keep the garden a little greener
- We try to choose food the we cook from scratch whenever possible as we believe that this is better for us and also for the environment
